I studied in this school from 1954 to 1960. During my time Mr. Banerjee was our Principal. He was a very strict administrator. Our school was running in Neel Kanth College Building. Then Seth Ballabh Das sanctioned a sum of Rs.65,000.00 to build a new school building on the present plot. We the students from class Vth to class XI were doing shramdaan to make new school building. And the new building was erected in two year's time. When I was in VIII class, the building was ready and we were shifted to this new building. A grand function was held at the opening ceremoney. Seth Ballabh Das himself had come on that occasion. The Principal was changed as due to bad health Mr. Banerjee retired handing over to Mr. B.N. Jaiswal. He died in a year succeded by his brother Mr. D.P. Jaiswal, a very brilliant and learned teacher. What a magnificient days we saw in that era of B.E.Subhash Higher Secondary School, Khandwa. Our teachers Mr. S.K.Guha, Goverdhan Agarwal, O.P. Panchayati, Kher sahab, Modi, our Sanskrit teacher, Negi, the great experimenter, for he allowed opportunity to a very bad Sindhi boy Mithu, who later proved him worth a student of our school, proving good the experiment of Negi, Mr. Hiraniya, our drawing teacher, we all were very much afraid of him, a very annoying personality but expert in drawing, he encouraged me to obtain J.J.School of arts certificate which I did, Mr. Gangrade, a very handsome teacher, Mr. Saadh, our Hindi teacher, another good personality, Mr. Dugey, since he was a very tall heighted we use to call him "Lamboo." Not knowing that he was irritated by hearing this title, on my first meeting with him in the class "Lamboo" sir, I am son of Hakim Bhaiji Bohra family. But he was not annoyed with me, he came to me and smiled and told me that my name is Dubey and in future please call me with this name. Then in my teacher was Mr. Kailash Rajvaidya, our chemistry teacher, his title was "Anu Parmanu". The methods with which he us chemistry were very subperb. then another great teacher was Mr. Chaurasiya but I did not came much in contact. Mr. Shukla was out P.T. teacher. His son Kanaihya lal Shukla was still my friend today. What I am today is mainly due to my these mentioned teacher. Though they were meagrely paid but they continued to teach student with great dedication and devotion. My main worry is that there is no statue of Seth Ballabhdas in the campus of our school. I eqally pained and feel agonised finding one statue of some Gupta which is a proof how opportunist can throw the deserving people in garbage pit and occupy the places which they do not deserve. I will surely raise this issue at some proper platform some times in future. My school gave many good citizens. I am one among them.
